Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State Anti-Terrorism and Special Protection Unit Dispersal Department announced that 17 militants were arrested in connection with the attack.

In Benishangul-Gumuz, militants who have been fighting since 2011 have brutally killed civilians in various parts of the country. They have been displaced and looted.

The Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State Anti-Terrorism and Special Protection Strike Dispersion Department is working with the task force to hunt down criminals.

The head of the department, Commander Dosa Goshu, told ENA that the state is cooperating with the task force and arresting the culprits with the cooperation of the public.

He said law enforcement officials are surrendering and are being arrested.

He said 17 militants were arrested during the operation in Dangur, Dibate, Bulen and Mandura woredas.

The militants also seized 5, 10, 50, 100 mobile phone cards, 290 arrows, medicines and other items worth more than 29,000 birr.
