Sudan has sent Ethiopian peacekeepers seeking refuge to a refugee camp, state television reported. Al-Fateh Ibrahim Mohammed, head of the North Darfur Refugee Agency, said the 120 peacekeepers, who were members of the Tigrayan ethnic group, had recently entered a refugee camp in Sudan. Fourteen of the soldiers are said to be women. According to the Associated Press, 31 soldiers were transported to a refugee camp in East Sudan from the Sala area today. UN spokesman Farhan Hague said last month that members of the Ethiopian peacekeeping force in Darfur, Sudan, had called for “international protection.”
